Schedule a Road Test

Road tests can now be scheduled by the applicant, using our online scheduling system.  You must meet all the requirements provided below, such as passing the required knowledge test(s) to be eligible for this service.  Please read the following information before scheduling your road test, as refunds are not issued.  You must provide your complete and correct information when you schedule your test. 

You may schedule your test 24 hours prior to the test and up to 60 days in advance, depending on the availability and the specific office schedule.  You may reschedule your test up to 24 hours prior to the test. 

Using this system, you will be able to:

  • Select the type of test you need (Driver License, Motorcycle or Commercial).
  • Select the DMV office where your test will take place.
  • Pay for the test with a credit card.
  • Reschedule your test up to 24 hours in advance.

After your test is scheduled, your e-mail address will be used to send a confirmation notice with instructions specific to your test and location.  Please read the instructions carefully.

In addition, a reminder will be sent to you three (3) days before your appointment.

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATION

  • If you have a disability or have limited English proficiency and need special accommodation, please contact the DMV.

You must present the following items to the examiner at the time of your appointment:

1.  Correct and complete application(s).

  • Driver License or Motorcycle License (Form 478)
  • Commercial Driver License (Form 415 & Form 413)
  • 2.   Current Vehicle Registration for the vehicle being used for the test.
    3.   Proof of Insurance for the vehicle being used for the test.
    4.   Driver Permit or proof that you have passed the required knowledge test(s).  

    (Note:  Applicants under the age of 18 must meet other requirements as outlined on the back of Form 478.)

If you have trouble scheduling your test, please contact your local DMV for assistance.

You must pass any required knowledge test(s) BEFORE SCHEDULING A ROAD TEST.  If you have an Alaska driver permit for the type of license you wish to obtain, this is proof that you have passed the knowledge test.  For a commercial license, there may be additional knowledge tests required.  Please check with DMV directly if you are unsure.

Be advised that in the case of extreme weather conditions (ice, snow, high winds, etc.) your road test may be canceled. The DMV will make every attempt to contact you and reschedule your road test at no charge to you.  If you have concerns about road conditions contact your local DMV to confirm your test schedule.
